Getting caught up with Web 2.0

As a developer I’m supposed to be “up” on the latest Web 2.0 stuff.  But I find that I spend enough time as it is writing code, checking email and Facebook, that it’s tough to keep up.  But tonight I decided to catch up a little.  I recently signed up with a new Home Based business and decided I needed to update my tools arsenal to manage that and to manage other aspects of my online life.

Yesterday I signed up with GMail.  Yeah I know, a bit late to the game, but I have been somewhat functional with Yahoo email up till now, but I have been inundated with spam and have needed something with better tools.  So GMail it is.

And then there’s managing all these places I need to check.  I’ve tried IGoogle and Pageflakes before, but found both wanting.  Tonight I signed up with Netvibes, and it is pretty  sweet.  Since Bloglines will be shutting down I needed something to track my blog feeds and to manage search and my social networks.  So far so good.

And then of course there’s blogging.  Now I’ve had various fits and starts with blogging, but for whatever reason, just never got going.  I certainly need to blog in my industry and plan to blog about software development, rowing, health, home-based businesses and real estate.  After looking at several alternatives I’ve settled (for now) with tumblr.  So here goes…Hope you come back for more…
